GARDEN TIPS BY WAYNE & PAUL FROM WIZS GARDEN SHOW
1. Check your lawn for white grubs, they easier to control in August and September.
2. Tall fescue sowing season starts in about two more weeks. Get ready!
3. Take soil samples now and avoid the rush and the peak season charge (free analysis for samples submitted before 11/30).
4. Collect seeds from zinnias, cosmos, marigolds, sweet williams and other flowers and save for next years planting.
5. Learn to recognize snake species so you will know which ones are harmless.
6. Maintain your fruit tree spray program, but verify “pre-harvest interval” on label and discontinue spraying at the indicated time. Get rid of fallen fruit under your trees.
7. Take stock of pesticides you have been using this season and be certain they are stored securely.
8. Update your notes of successes and failures in your garden notebook.
9. Research trees and shrubs to plant this fall, look for something unique.
