Suspect Arrested from Weekend Shooting

On Sunday, August 24, 2014, members of the Henderson Police Department responded to Maria Parham Medical Center in response to a report of someone shot. When officers arrived, they discovered that Quincey Gregory was suffering from a serious gunshot wound. The investigation revealed that the incident took place around the 600 block of West Rockspring Street in Henderson. Gregory was transferred to Duke Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

On Wednesday, August 27, 2014, criminal investigators were notified that Gregory had succumbed to his injuries. Authorities had early issued an advisory to be on the lookout for Kyshaun Norrell.

Wednesday morning, members of the Henderson Police Department and the Vance County Sheriff’s Department were able to take Norrell into custody without incident. Norrell, 17, 640 Ransom Street in Henderson was charged with the following offenses:

First Degree Murder; Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury; 2 counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle; Discharging a firearm on educational property; Discharging a firearm in the city limits.

Norrell was placed in the Vance County Jail without privilege of bond pending a hearing in Vance County District Court on September 8, 2014
