No, I’m not ready to pay for more people’s health insurance.
I’m fortunate to be healthy, especially in my age group. I’m in awe of the increase in chronic illnesses in those much younger than me. I begin to imagine a great conspiracy between education, modern medicine, pharmaceuticals and corporate food production. My health care insurance does not cost me any less than it previously did and my co-pays have doubled. Good health is not an accident but it takes personal action. From my earliest years I was taught that good nutrition, physical activity and fresh air were key to good health. I personally believe everyone should have health insurance, just like one must have auto insurance and mortgage insurance. I also believe students should be taught the importance of nutrition, K-12. I gladly pay taxes for education, why would I resent the taxes that go towards ensuring that my less able neighbors have health care? Not everyone on public assistance is a con, so do we deprive the whole because of a part?
