The Vance County Arts Council and the North Carolina Arts Council presents, “A Celebration of Black History” on Friday, February 20th at Emrose Gallery 233 South Garnett Street, at 6:00PM. Guest speaker will be Dr. David E. Alston Chairman of the Henderson-Vance County Human Relations Committee. Alston is a native of Pennsylvania and a descendant of Harriet Tubman who through her work with the “Underground Railroad” was instrumental in freeing many slaves.

Music for the occasion will be provided by Heart of Soul of Henderson, the Black History singers consisting of: Reverend Roy Burroughs, Abagayle Allergrotto, George Clark, and Dr. Alice Sallins. There will be handouts and prizes for adults and children as well as African American trivia for prizes. The public is cordially invited to attend.
