IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

 
   

This is “National Read Across America Week” in celebration of the birthday of the famed author of the Dr. Seuss books. Several special events are planned at local schools. Tuesday is “National Read Across America Day” with special reading sessions planned at most elementary schools.

 
   

Friday is now a school make-up day with a full school day for all students and school system employees.

Dabney Elementary: (Monday, March 2) – School Improvement Team meeting

 
   

L.B. Yancey Elementary: (Monday, March 2) – Dr. Seuss Bandana Reading

 
   

Aycock Elementary: (Tuesday, March 3) – Pennies for Patients assembly at 10 a.m. and Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by PTA meeting beginning at 7 p.m., with students in pre-kindergarten through first grade performing

 
   

Clarke Elementary: (Tuesday, March 3) – Second graders participate in “Save Our Kids” water safety classes in the afternoon at the Aycock Recreation Center

 
   

E.M. Rollins Elementary: (Tuesday, March 3) – Second graders participate in “Save Our Kids” water safety classes in the afternoon at the Henderson Family YMCA

 
   

Carver Elementary: (Wednesday, March 4)Reading Day” session, sponsored by United Way of Vance County, at 2 p.m. for all third graders

Wednesday, March 18: Early Release Day due to staff development sessions in the afternoon. Elementary and high schools dismiss students at 12 p.m. and middle schools dismiss students at 12:15 p.m. The STEM Early High School dismisses students at 11:45 a.m.

 
   

Friday, March 20: Kindergarten students participate in swimming activities at 12:30 p.m. at Aycock Recreation Center and Talent Show at 5 p.m. at Aycock Elementary

 
   

Friday, March 20: Ronald McDonald Character Education programs at 1 and 2 p.m. in media center at E.O. Young Jr. Elementary

 
   

Monday, March 23-Friday, March 27: Career and College Week with special activities planned each day and Book Fair held all week at Aycock Elementary.

 
   

Monday, March 23-Friday, March 27: Lasso a Good Book Library Parent Lunch Dates at L.B. Yancey Elementary.

 
   

Tuesday, March 24: All fourth graders attend Storytelling Festival at Perry Memorial Library in downtown Henderson

Wednesday, March 25: Career and College Day event from 9 to 11:45 a.m. at Aycock Elementary

 
   

Friday, March 27: Second-grade reading rewards for Accelerated Reader with students going to swimming activities at Aycock Recreation Center at Aycock Elementary
