The Henderson Police Department has received reports of fraudulent activity occurring in the City of Henderson. We remind our citizens to be ever vigilant when out in the community. We encourage our citizens to be philanthropic but cautious of their donors.
In one such scam, individuals are approaching citizens, primarily the elderly on public vehicular areas around the city and delivering sad stories. When encountering such individuals, we suggest referring the individuals to civic or government organizations such as a church or Social Services for assistance.
Another scam currently being perpetrated, two females are approaching elderly individuals telling them that they have a large sum of money that they need to change for smaller demoninations. Victims are asked to withdraw smaller demoninations from their account and are then told to travel to another location to receive a larger sum of money which doesn’t exist.
Please be aware of your surroundings and don’t hesitate to report suspicious activity. If it doesn’t look right to you, then it’s probably not.
