Vance County Schools – Girls on the Track


STEM Girls on the TrackStudents who attend the STEM Early High School, located on the campus of Northern Vance High School, are shown above with some of their family members before they took part in the “Girls on the Run” 5K Race held in Oxford on May 9. The female students participated in their school’s “Girls on the Track” program over a 10-week period during which they met after school twice each week to take part in physical activities and additional activities to promote good character traits. The “Girls on the Track” program is the middle school version of the “Girls on the Run” program, which is held in local elementary schools and coordinated through the Henderson Family YMCA. “Girls on the Track” participants from STEM Early High School who are shown in the photo with family members include Tashiana Davis, Emma Kiefer, Carmyn Guill, Amberlyn Cantero, Tashata Bryant, Tanisha Davis, Harley Newman, Racheal Whittacre, Stephanie Pegram and Kara Pegram. The 5K Race was the culmination of the “Girls on the Run” programs for this school year for schools in Vance and Granville counties.
