Henderson Police Department Recognizes Officer Ashton Mitchell for Officer of the Month


Officer Ashton MitchellChief Marcus W. Barrow of the Henderson Police Department is pleased to recognize Officer Ashton Mitchell as the Officer of the Month for May, 2015.

The Officer of the Month recognition is a departmental award which is given to officers and Sergeants nominated by agency commanders for performance during the previous month which exceed the normal duties of a Henderson Police Department officer.

On May 17, 2015 officers were dispatched to the area of Rockspring Street and Highland Avenue in reference to a subject lying in the roadway possibly shot. When Lt. G.L. Williams and Officer A. Mitchell arrived on the scene they assessed the victim’s injuries and determined that the victim had been shot and had no pulse. Lieutenant Williams and Officer Mitchell were able to clear the victim’s airway and then begin CPR until EMS arrived. By doing this they were able to keep the victim alive until he was able to receive advanced Emergency Medical treatment from paramedics. Due to the actions of Lt. Williams and Officer Mitchell the victim survived the gunshot wound.

For his actions in this emergency incident, the Henderson Police Department is pleased to be able to present Officer Ashton Mitchell with the Officer of the Month award for May, 2015.
