Congresswoman Renee Ellmers: A Historic Address to Congress

Photo of the Week

In the photo above, my husband Brent and I are at the White House Arrival Ceremony to welcome His Holiness Pope Francis.  I am so thankful to have been able to participate in this momentous event.

Weekly Update:
It was an exciting week in Washington as Pope Francis visited the city and gave a historic address to a joint meeting of Congress. In addition to attending the papal address, it was an honor and a blessing to celebrate Mass with His Holiness at the National Basilica and also attend a “Welcoming” Ceremony for the Pope at the White House. My husband, Dr. Brent Ellmers, was my guest of honor for this week’s festivities. Be sure to scroll down for more photos from the Pope’s visit.

Duringhis address to Congress, Pope Francis spoke of our “responsibility to protect and defend human life at every stage of its development.” This message came just days after Senate Democrats defeated a pro-life bill, squashing the opportunity for a discussion and vote on the bill itself. Given current events, I was thankful for the Pope’s address to Congress at a time when it was so very needed. I will continue to fight for those who are unable to fight for themselves.

While I was in Washington this week, my staff was busy preparing for my annual Recruit-A-Vet Job Fair which takes place October 13th at Fayetteville Tech Community College. Representatives of local and national companies will discuss job openings, accept applications and interview veterans for new career opportunities. Please contact my office for more information about the job fair or to talk to my staff about some of the other ways we are here to serve constituents.

Welcoming Pope Francis

This once-in-a-lifetime event was conducted with appropriate ceremony.

As you can see in the reflections on the car, everyone wanted to get a good photo of Pope Francis as his car drove by.

My husband, Brent, was my guest of honor this week.

It was an incredible experience I will never forget — celebrating Mass with Pope Francis at the National Basilica.
A Historic Address to Congress

The Kolodzieski family from Apex (above) and a group from St. John Paul II Catholic School in Southern Pines picked up their tickets to see Pope Francis in Washington this week. My office was happy to be able to help these ? constituents obtain tickets to this historic event!
