Triangle North Healthcare Foundation Awards Grants for Healthy Outcomes

Triangle North Healthcare Foundation has launched its third round of grantmaking by awarding over $200,000 in grants to local nonprofit and governmental organizations.

“All of the grant projects center around community health in some way,” said Val Short, executive director for the local Foundation.  “Our hope is that these grant awards will result in improved health and healthier lifestyles for children and adults in our region,” she added.

The Foundation, in its third year as a grantmaking organization, has established five major funding priorities that include, Chronic Disease Prevention, Nutrition and Physical Fitness, Success in School—as it relates to health and fitness, Mental Health and Substance Abuse, and Reproductive Health.  “Our grant projects this year focus on chronic disease management and prevention, success in school, nutrition, and mental health,” said Short.

The Foundation’s grant recipients for 2015 are:  Alliance Rehabilitative Care in Henderson, Boys & Girls Clubs or North Central NC, Franklin-Granville-Vance Smart Start, Henderson Family YMCA, Henderson-Vance Recreation and Parks Department, Kerr-Tar Council of Governments Area Aging program, N.C. MedAssist Pharmacy Outreach program, and Triangle Recovery Options for Substance Abusers (TROSA.)

In addition, Triangle North Healthcare Foundation’s Board approved partial funding for the Granville-Vance Public Health 2016 Community Health Assessment.

Located in Henderson, Triangle North Healthcare Foundation’s mission has been made possible by the endowment that was established after Maria Parham Medical Center merged with the for-profit Duke-Lifepoint.  Information about the Foundation and future grant opportunities is available on the Foundation’s website, www.tnhfoundation.org
