In an effort to keep children safe the local Downtown businesses will host Trick-or-Treat on Friday, October 30th from 4:30pm until 6:00pm. Businesses displaying the orange signs are participating sponsors. Children age two to twelve can treat from the corner of the Fire station to the House of Toyz on Garnett Street.

Spring Street Missionary Baptist Church will host their annual Trunk-or-Treat on, Saturday, October 31st from 6:00pm until 8:00pm in the church parking lot located at 511 Orange Street. On October 21, 2015 around 9:12 PM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to the area of E. Andrews Ave and US 1 South, Henderson in reference to a person that had been struck by a semi-truck. Upon arrival, officers found the victim deceased from serious injuries. Simulator equipment enhances VGCC Heavy Equipment program
One of the newest programs at Vance-Granville Community College recently received high-tech equipment thanks to grant funding from the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The Heavy Equipment Operator training program, based at the college’s Warren County Campus in Warrenton, now has three computerized training simulators manufactured by John Deere. RALEIGH — As the temperature starts dropping and leaves start falling, another sign of the changing season is more deer along North Carolina roadways, and in turn a greater chance of a collision with a deer. Over the last three years (between 2012-2014), nearly half of the 58,372 animal-related crashes in the state took place in October through December. About 90 percent of those involved deer. A N.C.
