Vance-Granville Community College’s Franklin County Campus will offer a new class, “Painting & Mixed Media,” on Thursday evenings from 6:30 until 9:30 p.m., Feb. 4 through May 5.

This class will be taught by Theresa Brown of Franklinton, a professional artist and art teacher whose work has been featured in “Our State” magazine, and who has over a thousand portraits displayed in homes and businesses around the globe. “She has a wealth of experience in teaching and helping students move forward,” said VGCC Personal Enrichment coordinator Gail Clark. “She can also help them move toward career goals if they are so inclined.” Brown also teaches entrepreneurship classes for VGCC.

“Mixed Media is a free-spirited class where I’ll show you the many ways to combine everything from fabric to transfers to printing into your creative art form,” Brown said. “Bring any art supplies that you have to the first class and watch your projects develop from there.”

The class is designed to allow students of all levels of experience to explore taking their work to a new level, using painting and other techniques to create a unique piece of artwork.

The cost of the course is $95.

Registration can be completed online at www.vgcc.edu/ped or at any VGCC campus. For more information, contact Gail Clark at (252) 738-3385 or ped@vgcc.edu.
