Applications are now available for the Vance Medical Academy located on the campus of Southern Vance High School for the 2016-2017 school year for rising ninth-grade students.
The applications are available from middle and high school guidance counselors and on the Vance County Schools’ website at www.vcs.k12.nc.us.
The deadline for completed applications is March 31, 2016. Applications should be turned in to Willa Clark, Vance County Schools, P.O. Box 7001, 1724 Graham Avenue, Henderson, N.C. 27536.
The Vance Medical Academy is a highly specialized medial career academy for high school students. It is designed to provide a strong foundation for successful entry into the Health Sciences and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields.
The academy provides students with industry certifications in CPR/First Aid and as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Pharmacy Technician. Students also have opportunities to participate in clinical experiences in nursing homes, hospitals and medical clinics. The Vance Medical Academy also offers high school courses already aligned with programs at Vance-Granville Community College in nursing; pharmacy; medical office administration; radiography; pharmacy technology; and the college transfer program.
