Vance County Schools Technology Committee at Work

Vance County Schools technologyMembers of the Vance County Schools Technology Committee are continuing to gather information from companies for computer hardware and software for teachers and students to use in the upcoming school year.
Committee members met in the late afternoon on April 12, in the Board Room of the school system’s Administrative Services Center as they listened to representatives from three different vendors with proposals on available laptop computers and software that can be used by teachers and students in local schools.
Presentations were provided by representatives of Virtucom, Computer Discount Warehouse (CDW-G) and SHI.
The committee, consisting of several teachers from the 17 local schools, as well as some principals and school media specialists, reviewed materials and costs from each of the three companies. All of the representatives left devices for teachers and school administrators to try out for the next few weeks.
Reviews of available devices and software will continue before the committee makes recommendations and proposed plans are presented to the Vance County Board of Education.
