Weekly Update |
It was a pleasure to spend some time last weekend with the impressive young men and women from ?the Second District who received military academy appointments. My Dunn District Office hosted a reception in their honor to show them, and their families, how proud we are of their achievements.
I wish them all the best as they begin service to our country in our nation’s military academies. Scroll down to see some photos from the reception. Click here to view additional photos of the appointees and their families. Also this week, we celebrated National Seersucker Day in Washington. I hope you’ll look at the end of the newsletter to check out our guest for the day to see who I high-fived.

Honoring Our Fallen |
This week, I learned that we lost a close neighbor and a childhood friend of my son’s. Rae’Laurin Gates joined the Army just 6 months ago and lost her life in the tragedy at Fort Hood. This is a heartbreaking reminder of the sacrifices made by service members and their families, both abroad and during training. I will always remember her bright smile and eagerness to help others. This week a Celebration of Life to honor Dunn native and Hometown Hero, Rae’Laurin Gates, was held at Dunn’s Veterans Park at Tyler Park. |
