Butterfield seeks fed surplus electronics
Washington, D.C. —- Congressman G. K. Butterfield’s legislation aimed at making it easier for communities to acquire surplus federal electronic equipment at little or no cost moved forward with a committee hearing today.
County to correct tax reevaluation error
The Vance County Board of Commissioners’ Planning/Environmental Committee met yesterday at 4:00 p.m. However, rather than focus on its usual bailiwick, the committee discussed a problem with the reevaluation of certain land parcels in the county. Etheridge objects to education cuts

Tax rebate bill sent to President
Washington, D.C. -— U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington), a member of the House Budget Committee, today voted for a final compromise version of legislation that would provide more than 3.5 million North Carolina households with a tax rebate and help stimulate the economy.
Vance County Schools dropout rate decreases
Vance County Schools posted a dropout rate of 5.06%, or 190 students during the 2006-2007 school year.
