Warren to be named acting manager
In an emergency meeting called by Henderson Mayor Clem Seifert, it was announced in an atmosphere of mutual agreement that Assistant City Manager Mark Warren would be named Acting City Manager for the duration of City Manager Jerry Moss’s illness.
Clark appointed acting Chief of Police
The City of Henderson announced this afternoon that Captain Tony Clark of the Henderson Police Department has once again been appointed Acting Chief of Police.

In a telephone interview, Faye Gill, Director of Elections, informed Home in Henderson that the Vance County Board of Elections did not find sufficient cause to remove George Hoyle from the ballot for Sheriff of Vance County in the November election. The certification of the petition is therefore upheld.

The average composite ACT assessment scores of North Carolina students increased slightly as did the scores for students in the nation in 2006, according to results from the ACT college admissions and placement exam released Wednesday. Preliminary NC writing scores released
North Carolina students in fourth and 10th grades improved their performance on the state’s writing assessment in 2005-06, according to a preliminary report released Thursday by the NC Department of Public Instruction.
