Shot Fired at Maria Parham Medical Center, Subject Arrested.
On March 7, 2013 around 6:00 PM officers with the Henderson Police Department who were conducting security of a mental patient at Maria Parham Medical Center, 566 Ruin Creek Road, Henderson heard a gunshot come from a restroom in the emergency room. Officers immediately responded and detained a male subject. Subject was arrested and has been charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied building. VGCC awards 324 Scholarships to students
Vance-Granville Community College awarded 324 scholarships to students at an awards ceremony, held Feb. 20 in the college’s Civic Center. New Charter High School Receives Final Approval and Announces Site Location
Oxford Preparatory High School received final charter approval at Thursday’s State Board of Education meeting in Raleigh and will be the first charter high school in the region when it opens in August. This approval was the culmination of a year long application and approval process, during which the Board held monthly public meetings, hosted more than 10 community interest meetings, and participated in seven days of charter school training in Raleigh. Vance-Granville Community College recently nominated Frank D. Allison of Louisburg, a student in the College Transfer program, for the North Carolina Community College System’s Governor Robert W. Scott Student Leadership Award. The award was established in 2004 in honor of Scott, who served as Governor of North Carolina from 1969-1973, and as President of the N.C. VGCC offers evening Medical Terminology on Main Campus
Vance-Granville Community College is currently registering students for Medical Terminology, the first of four courses included in the 13-month Medical Coding certificate program. Classes will be held in Building 5 on VGCC’s Main Campus on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6 until 9 p.m., March 25 through July 17. The Terminology course is the introduction to the language of medicine. Students learn to pronounce, spell and define medical terms related to anatomy, physiology, pathological conditions, diagnostic testing and medical procedures. …
