Louisburg College Welcomes New CFO Jon Ehrlich
LOUISBURG, N.C.— Louisburg College President Mark La Branche is pleased to announce that Jonathan Ehrlich will be joining the staff in October as its next Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer. Vance County Schools – Required High School Testing
Vance County Schools wants to keep students and their parents informed about required testing in our high schools for grades 9-12. According to State Board of Education policy, students who are enrolled for credit in courses in which end-of-course (EOC) assessments are required shall take the appropriate EOC assessment at the completion of the course. Nurse Aide training courses scheduled at VGCC Main Campus
Vance-Granville Community College has scheduled several occupational healthcare courses to start in September at the college’s Main Campus in Vance County. The Nurse Aide Level I course will be offered on two different schedules. The first class, with instructor Evelyn Reeves, will meet Tuesday-Thursday, Sept. 9 through Jan. 21, from 1 until 5 p.m. (12:30-4:30 p.m. for clinical sites). Healthcare training courses scheduled at VGCC Warren Campus
Vance-Granville Community College has scheduled several occupational healthcare courses to start in September at the college’s Warren County Campus in Warrenton. The Nurse Aide Refresher course is scheduled to be held Monday-Thursday, Sept. 2 through Sept. 11, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Melissa Hawkins will serve as the instructor. VGCC recognizes 13 Medical Assisting students at Pinning
Vance-Granville Community College held a pinning ceremony for its 2014 Medical Assisting program graduates on Aug. 8 at the college’s Franklin County Campus in Louisburg, where the program is conducted. As VGCC’s program is nationally accredited, graduates are now eligible to sit for the American Association of Medical Assistants’ (AAMA) certification examination to become Certified Medical Assistants. Vance County Schools – Motorists Must Stop for Stopped School Buses
Vance County Schools is joining public school systems across North Carolina in asking motorists to adhere to the “Stop Arm” signs on school buses and to stop their vehicles completely while students board and get off of school buses. The school system has approximately 85 school buses which travel Vance County streets and roadways each morning and afternoon on school days to transport over 4,000 students to and from school each day. Vance-Granville Community College will offer a course on “afternoon tea,” the tradition that is enjoying a renaissance as fine hotels, inns and tea rooms across the country give guests an opportunity to retreat from the hurried pace of their lives. The Vance-Granville Community College Small Business Center has scheduled a free seminar, entitled “Finding & Writing Grants,” for Thursday, Sept. 11, from 1 until 4 p.m. at the college’s Warren County Campus in Warrenton. Duke Energy gives $2,000 to support students in new VGCC Mechatronics program
Duke Energy recently presented a $2,000 contribution to the Vance-Granville Community College Endowment Fund. These funds will be used to provide two scholarships, worth $1,000 each, for students enrolled in the college’s new Mechatronics Engineering Technology program. This is not the first contribution by Duke Energy to the new curriculum program, which is based at VGCC’s South Campus, located between Butner and Creedmoor. Vance County Schools – School Year Underway
The 2014-2015 school year has already begun for Vance County Schools with the Early College High School students beginning their classes on August 7, new teachers starting work on August 11 and all other teachers beginning work today. Officials from Vance-Granville Community College offered tips to their colleagues from across the state at the inaugural NC Community Colleges Performance Partnership Summit, held at the Embassy Suites in Cary on July 31. VGCC Nursing student coordinates Blood Drive
Vance-Granville Community College hosted an American Red Cross Blood Drive on its Main Campus in Vance County on July 25. For only the second time, a VGCC Associate Degree Nursing student, in this case Patricia Bumpass of Oxford, served as coordinator of the blood drive. Considering that it was held on a Friday during the summer — when blood donations typically decrease — Bumpass said that the drive went well. VGCC names Lloyd to industry training post
Vance-Granville Community College recently named Sara Lloyd as Director of Customized Training. In that position, she will use her extensive industry experience to help meet the needs of area manufacturers and other employers. Lloyd, who has lived in Oxford for the past 15 years, has worked in the manufacturing sector as a supervisor, quality assurance coordinator, process engineer, continuous improvement manager, Lean Six Sigma Specialist and manager of corporate projects.
