On Wednesday, June 25, 2014, members of the Henderson Police Department Criminal Investigation Division arrested William Albert Bowers. Bowers was charged after a federal grand jury returned a true bill of indictment alleging three criminal offenses. Bowers was charged with one count of being a felon in possession of ammunition and two counts of distribution of a quantity of heroin. Saturday Night Shooting, Rewards Offered for Info
On Saturday night, June 21, 2014, members of the Henderson Police Department responded to the intersection of Orange Street and Merriman Street in response to someone shot. Officers found Theodus Williams, 43. 1453 Perry Avenue, Henderson suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Interstate Paving to Close I-85 in Orange County/Nightime Closures to Begin Monday
RALEIGH — The N.C. Department of Transportation will close I-85 South in Orange County beginning Monday night, June 23, for paving operations, weather permitting. The paving will begin at the Durham County line and end just east of the I-85/I-40 split. Crews will close I-85 South at the US 15/501 South split (Exit 174A). Students from Vance-Granville Community College recently volunteered as proctors for end-of-grade (EOG) testing in Vance County elementary and middle schools. More than 30 students and alumni served as proctors at Dabney Elementary, Pinkston Street Elementary, New Hope Elementary, Carver Elementary, Eaton-Johnson Middle and Henderson Middle schools. Most were students in the School-Age Education program at the college.
