Vance County Schools – Pendergrass To Attend N.C. Governor’s School
Christopher Pendergrass, a junior at Northern Vance High School, has been selected to attend the prestigious North Carolina Governor’s School program this summer. He is the only student chosen to attend the five-week residential program from Vance County Schools. Pendergrass has been selected because of his outstanding academics in the area of mathematics. He will attend the Governor’s School on the East Campus of the program at Meredith College in Raleigh, June 15-July 23. Students also attend the West Campus …

Greg’s Garden (May 19th, 2014)
Harvesting our “first fruits” We have been quite busy harvesting the first vegetables from our plot garden. Spinach, Swiss Chard, Bok Choi, and Lettuce have all been to the table in these past two weeks, along with just a few fresh strawberries. Greg and I love to eat from the garden. VGCC Early Childhood Program earns Renewed Accreditation
The Early Childhood Education program at Vance-Granville Community College recently learned that it is one of 15 associate degree programs to earn the distinction of Accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) this year. This is the VGCC program’s second accreditation, which lasts for seven years. Long-term Traffic Pattern Change Comes Monday Night for the Hammond Road/I-40 Interchange in Raleigh
RALEIGH — Motorists traveling north on Hammond Road toward Raleigh who have been getting on I-40 East will be shifted into a new traffic pattern, starting Monday night, May 19. Work on the interchange for the Fortify Project is shutting down the existing eastbound ramp for the next several months. Mitch Evans was recently named Dean of Vance-Granville Community College’s Warren County Campus. Evans has served in the North Carolina Community College System for 22 years, including almost five years at VGCC. In his new leadership role, Evans is responsible for supervising all operations at the satellite campus in Warrenton, including both the curriculum and continuing education courses offered there.
