Drive-in holding canned food drive
The Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre in Henderson, North Carolina (the Triangle area’s only drive-in theatre) is hoping to help stock some food bank shelves this holiday season by offering movie patrons an opportunity to get a free child’s movie admission by bringing two cans of food (or box dinners) to the theatre when they attend this season’s holiday movies.
Three shot on Merriman Street
On November 29, 2009 at 4: 15 p.m. officers of the Henderson Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 400 block of Merriman Street.
County committee meets today
The Vance County Board of Commissioners’ Public Safety Committee is scheduled to meet Thursday, December 3 at 3:00 p.m. in the County Manager’s office located at 122 Young Street in Henderson, North Carolina. According to an email from County Clerk Kelly Grissom, the meeting is being held “to discuss several matters”. No further details were made available.

NCDOT axes Chavasse Ave. widening project
In a special verbal report requested by Henderson City Council member Mike Inscoe at the beginning of yesterday’s short regular session, Assistant City Manager Frank Frazier informed the council that the North Carolina Department of Transportation has terminated a project intended to widen Chavasse Avenue and add sidewalks to the street.
