State of the state address tonight
Governor Bev Perdue’s State of the State Address will begin tonight at 7:00 p.m. She will discuss the challenges facing North Carolina and her plans to move the state forward during these tough times from the floor of the North Carolina General Assembly.

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction released the the Consolidated Data Report, 2007-08 which contains the Annual Report of School Crime & Violence, the Annual Report of Suspensions & Expulsions, and the Annual Report of Dropout Rates.
Harrison elected to chair State Board of Ed.

City council to hold retreat this weekend
The Henderson Mayor Pete O’Geary has called a special meeting of the Henderson City Council for the purpose of holding the 2009 City Council Strategic Planning Retreat.

Schools delayed two hours
Kerr-Vance Academy, Vance Charter School, Vance County Schools, Vance-Granville Community College, and Victory Christian School will be operating on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Tuesday, March 3, 2009.
County commissioners’ meeting to be rescheduled
Due to the possibility of icy roads tonight, the meeting of the Vance County Board of Commissioners will be called to order only to reconvene for tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. (not 6:00 p.m.). The public hearing for tonight will need to be rescheduled for a later date. Also, the Human Resources Committee meeting has been rescheduled for tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.
