City receives unqualified audit report
At the outset of the financial report given to the Henderson City Council at its regular Monday night meeting, Assistant Finance Director Sandra Wilkerson reminded members that the city has been going through “financial difficulties” for the last three-to-five years.

Council also passes ordinance for licensing of adult, sexually-oriented businesses The Henderson City Council voted unanimously at yesterday’s regular meeting to enact a zoning ordinance relative to the establishment of adult businesses in Henderson.
HPD Crime Alert: ATM safety
This from Lt. Irvin Robinson of the Henderson Police Department: Citizens and business are advised to use caution when they visit the ATMs in the city at night. Thus far, the Henderson Police Department has taken reports regarding several attempted robberies when merchants are depositing money at ATMs. Supervisors should alert their personnel to this information as well.

On January 9, 2009, at approximately 1 :40 a.m. officers of the Henderson Police Department responded to 687 Adams Street in reference to someone shot.
Safe kids Henderson-Vance urges home childproofing
Approximately 2,300 children in the United States, ages 14 and under, died from accidental injuries in the home in 2004, and 3.4 million kids are treated in emergency rooms for accidental injuries occurring at home.

Mike Bradford of the accounting firm Phillips, Dorsey, Thomas, Waters & Brafford told members at Monday’s meeting of the Vance County Board of Commissioners that the county has received an unqualified audit opinion for fiscal 2007.
