Vance-Granville Community College’s 31st Annual Endowment Fund Golf Tournament, presented by Union Bank, will be held at the Henderson Country Club on Tuesday, May 5, 2015. A Harlem Globetrotter “Legend” visited two campuses of Vance-Granville Community College on Jan. 20, and he brought with him a message: education is the only surefire path to success. U.S. Figure Skating Championships to feature more competitors, bigger FanFest in Greensboro
Greensboro made a strong showing four years ago as host of the U.S. Figure Skating Championship, with more than 110,000 attending the various skating events. Add to that 26,000 who attended the free FanFest events outside the main arena, and 25,000 others who watched practices and other events on a second rink. The Male Mentoring Program at Vance-Granville Community College is bringing former Harlem Globetrotter James “Twiggy” Sanders to speak to students, faculty, staff and the community. Preparations swing into action to welcome U.S. Open fans to North Carolina
North Carolina will welcome thousands of golf fans next month as Pinehurst Resort hosts the U.S. Open and the U.S. Women’s Open Championships the weeks of June 9 and 16, respectively. The N.C. DBAP to host ACC Baseball Championship through 2018
Durham Bulls Athletic Park will host the ACC Baseball Championship from 2015 to 2018, the league and the Durham Bulls announced last Thursday. The baseball championships have been held in Durham eight times previously, with its last appearance in 2013. Last year, the tournament set records for single-game attendance (11,329) and championship game attendance (8,697). The tournament drew 58,454 fans, the fourth-highest total in its history. The 2014 ACC Baseball Championship is being held in Greensboro May 20-25.

Vance-Granville Community College’s 30th annual Endowment Fund Golf Tournament generated approximately $51,000 from entry fees and from sponsors to help fund scholarships for deserving students and support the mission of the college. That result set a new record as the highest-grossing golf tournament in VGCC history, far surpassing the previous record of $35,420, set just last year.
