Yesterday marked the first significant brown-out of the summer, at least in my neighborhood. I couldn’t help but ponder during the few seconds the power was out late yesterday afternoon that it doesn’t happen nearly as much as it used to. The same can be said about cable outages, now that I think about it. Sometimes we just have to appreciate the little things. Here’s your open line.

The Vance County Board of Commissioners’ Human Resources Committee is scheduled to meet today, Monday, August 2 at 3:30 p.m. in the office of County Manager Jerry Ayscue.
