I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Maria-Parham Emergency Room nursing staff, the respiratory therapist, the radiologists, and Dr. Joe himself for all of the excellent care I received on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Sorry I’ve been away, but I spent the first five hours of Sunday in the hospital for acute bronchitis. It’s been no fun at all. They would have admitted me, but all of the beds in the hospital were full. Who said they didn’t need the new tower? This space is yours. Enjoy. I’m going back to the doctor.

We’re fascinated by the argument that Vance County Commissioners Tim Pegram and Terry Garrison put forward yesterday that Henderson city residents must assume a greater tax burden because the city charter and city residence are entered into voluntarily. Many cities around the country understand that the services they provide support employment, and they impose a tax on suburbanites who commute into the city to work in order to support those municipal services.
