United Airlines adding Denver nonstop to RDU, CLT
United Airlines announced last week it will launch nonstop service between Denver International Airport (DIA) and the Raleigh-Durham International Airport. The twice-daily flight will start Sept. 13. This week, United announced it will offer twice-daily flights between DIA and Charlotte Douglas International Airport, also starting Sept. 13.
VGCC Golf Tournament sets new record, raising more than $100,000
Vance-Granville Community College’s 31st annual Endowment Fund Golf Tournament, presented by Oxford-based Union Bank, generated $100,318 to help fund scholarships for deserving students and support the mission of the college. That result set a new record as the highest-grossing golf tournament in VGCC history, far surpassing the previous record of $51,000, set just last year. Work Underway on 20 Miles of I-85 Improvements in Vance and Warren Counties
Raleigh-Work is under way on a $137.3 million N.C. Department of Transportation project to improve a 20.6 miles of I-85 in Vance and Warren Counties. The contract was awarded to S.T. Wooten Corporation of Wilson. The project covers the interstate between north of Dabney Road in Vance County and the Virginia state line.
