On Thursday, August 15, 2014, members of the Henderson Police Department Special Operations Unit arrested Roderick Antonio Lewis, 51, of 1100 Parham Street, Henderson. Lewis was charged after officers executed a search warrant at the Parham Street residence. During the search, officers recovered cocaine and several different types of prescription medications. Friday Felony Probation Arrest

On Friday, August 15, 2014, members of the Henderson Police Department Operations Division arrested Sieel Omari Allen. Allen, 23, 3829 Raleigh Road, Henderson was charged with one count of violating supervised release from a prior federal conviction. Allen was placed in the Vance County Jail without privilege of bond pending transfer of custody to the United States Marshall Service pending a hearing in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

Duke Energy gives $2,000 to support students in new VGCC Mechatronics program

Duke Energy recently presented a $2,000 contribution to the Vance-Granville Community College Endowment Fund. These funds will be used to provide two scholarships, worth $1,000 each, for students enrolled in the college’s new Mechatronics Engineering Technology program. This is not the first contribution by Duke Energy to the new curriculum program, which is based at VGCC’s South Campus, located between Butner and Creedmoor. Two Men Sentenced to Prison for Producing and Selling False Identification Documents

STATESVILLE – The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles’ License and Theft Bureau teamed with officials from various state and federal agencies to arrest five individuals involved in multiple crimes, including producing and selling false identification documents. For only the second time, a VGCC Associate Degree Nursing student, in this case Patricia Bumpass of Oxford, served as coordinator of the blood drive.
