Vance-Granville Community College hosted an American Red Cross Blood Drive on its Main Campus in Vance County on May 28. Farmers Market Opens in Henderson!
By Mari Miller At 7:30 am Wednesday morning, Henderson got their long awaited new Farmers Market. I arrived at 7:15 to watch the local farmers and merchants set up. Nine of the sixteen marketplace spots were filling up with merchandise from Vance, Warren, and Granville counties. The offerings ranged from home-made lye soap to fresh eggs. Wildflowers in bloom along NC interstates for 29th year
Several brightly colored beds of wildflowers are planted along U.S. 52 in Forsyth County at the Rural Hall exit. “Those are beautiful,” said Winston-Salem motorist Carolyn Wright, who had taken the exit. The beds are part of the N.C. Department of Transportation’s wildflower program, which began in 1985, inspired by First Lady Lady Bird Johnson’s efforts to beautify the nation’s highway system and suggested by North Carolina First Lady Dorothy Martin.
