NC Navigator Consortium awarded $2.44 milion for Affordable Care Act enrollment, Assistance Available in Vance County

The NC Navigator Consortium, a group of 13 health care, legal aid and social service organizations, has been awarded a $2,444,703 federal grant to help North Carolina consumers enroll in health insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act. Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund awards more than $3.8 million for projects

The N.C. Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund recently awarded more than $3.87 million to help communities across the state protect farmland and promote agricultural enterprises. More than $2 million went towards obtaining conservation easements on lands that border military bases in Hyde and Bertie counties. Students Play Critical Role in School Bus Safety

Bright and early this morning, more than 800,000 public school students boarded a school bus and headed off to school. But if past numbers from the state’s annual stop-arm violation count continue to hold true, at least 3,100 vehicles will have illegally passed a stopped school bus while students were trying to get on and off the bus. Recent reports of mosquito spraying for Zika virus and other mosquito-borne diseases in other states have led to many N.C. residents asking what can they do to protect commercial and hobby beehives across the state. Vance County Schools 2015-2016 Assessment Results

The state of North Carolina formally released accountability data from the 2015-2016 academic year today. The Vance County School System is pleased to report improvements on state assessments, the elimination of all schools designated with a school performance grade of an F, and of significant note; the highest graduation rate in the history of our school district.
