Kirk “Spit” Swain Jr. Arrested on Herion Charges

On Friday, April 12, 2013, members of the Henderson Police Department arrested Kirk “Spit” Swain Jr., 23, 851 N. Garnett Street, Henderson.  Swain was charged with three counts of trafficking heroin, two counts of possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin, and one count of sale and delivery of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school zone. Swain was placed in the Vance County Jail after failing to post a 145,000.00 dollar secured bond.  A …

On this date in 1892, the first U.S. patent for a truly portable typewriter was issued to George C. Blickensderfer of Stamford, Connecticut for a “type writing machine.” The machine worked on the principle of a revolving type wheel, a precursor to the type ball of 1970s typewriters.
