Butterfield Applauds Passage of Bipartisan Legislation for Standards Affecting Industrial Boilers and Process Heaters

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. G. K. Butterfield (D-NC), lead Democratic cosponsor of H.R. 2250, the EPA Regulatory Relief Act of 2011, applauded its passage today. The bill directs the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to develop achievable standards affecting non-utility boilers and incinerators, and grants additional time for development of and compliance with the rules.  Economic analyses have projected that compliance with the rules as currently proposed could cost between $4 and $14 billion, which could put several thousand manufacturing jobs at …

Corbitt Preservation Association Holds 10th Annual Show and Reunion

On Saturday, October 15, 2011, Corbitt Preservation Association will host it’s 10th annual show and reunion on Saturday from 8am to 4pm.  Corbitt Company built buggies in 1899, then automobiles, and after 1907 built tractors, buses and even trucks used by the military during World War II.  Corbitt Company closed its doors in 1952.  But area preservationists are still keeping the locally made vehicles on the road.  Come by Saturday and browse the collection.  The trucks will be at the …

Reporter – Leigh Hester – State Department of Transportation representatives Monday night pitched a “one way pair” idea for future expansions of Dabney Drive in downtown Henderson. Oxford’s Shalag, Producter of Non-woven Materials Expands With Help From N.C. Grant.

RALEIGH – Gov. Bev Perdue Friday announced that Shalag US, Inc., a producer of non-woven fabrics used in hygienic wipes, will expand in Oxford. The project is expected to create 25 jobs, and the company expects to invest $15.5 million in the plant by the end of 2012.
