Gov. Bev Perdue and emergency management officials are working to help all communities affected by Hurricane Irene recover and rebuild. “Lives have been lost, homes and property destroyed,” Gov. Vance County BoE Names New Principal
The Vance County Board of Education has unanimously approved Crystal Richardson as the new principal of New Hope Elementary School. The board took its action during a special meeting held on Wednesday, August 31. Two members of the board, Ronald Kinsley and Dorothy Williams, were not present at the meeting. Progress Energy to restore 95 percent of customers by midnight Wednesday
RALEIGH, N.C. (Aug. 28, 2011 – 8 p.m.) – Progress Energy crews have restored service to more than 330,000 customers since Hurricane Irene first began lashing the Carolinas on Friday. The company expects to restore service to the majority of remaining customers without power by midnight Tuesday, with 95 percent of restorations complete by midnight Wednesday.
