Firearm arrest by HPD power shift bike patrol
On June 14, 2010 around 11:00 a.m. two officers with the Power Shift Unit of the Henderson Police Department were conducting bike patrol in the area of North Garnett Street in Henderson, North Carolina when a vehicle passed emitting an odor of marijuana.

City council approves sanitation privatization
The Henderson City Council approved privatization of solid waste removal by a vote of 6-2 earlier this evening. The contract was awarded to Waste Industries, Inc., the sole bidder for the concession. The two dissenting votes were cast by council members Sara Coffey and Mary Emma Evans. No further information was available at time of publication.
