Stanley “Tookie” Williams, co-founder of the notorious “Crips” gang, is scheduled to be executed early Tuesday if not granted a stay of execution. To repeat a question raised at Thursday’s gang awareness seminar, can we expect a reaction here in Henderson if the execution goes on as scheduled? Or is our gang problem not as serious as that? As always, the floor is open to debate.

City Council appoints new Mayor Pro-Tem

Blame and praise at City Council
There were several appearances by residents at the Henderson city council meeting on Monday evening. Iris Castellon-Dethmers appeared before the council to request that it act on a petition to reduce the speed limit in the Old West End section of the city. Castellon-Dethmers is the current president of the Old West End Neighborhood Association and a resident of 224 W. Belle Street.
Cable deal remains elusive
A public hearing and council discussion regarding the pending cable franchise agreement were held at Monday night’s City Council meeting.
