You would think our leaders with a brain would have thought thru this a little. Concerning RV’s as I read it, if you’re living in an RV, you will be made HOMELESS. I guess it just MEANS NOTHING at all to our leaders. It’s another great move for the Henderson/Vance County Area, more homeless people on the streets, as opposed to someone with a roof over their heads. Has anyone living in a RV bothered you? They are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Have you had ANY problems whatsoever? I’m sure you have more problems with people living in conventional housing. How many people will it put in the street? I bet the leaders have no answer to this. Why? Because they haven’t thought it thru and could obviously, by their words in The Plan, care less. Any of the officials got a RV in the backyard with a family member living in it? Well, of course not, they have nice HOMES to live in, paid for by the people via their public pay checks, some of the very ones they’re making homeless.
cmore the exact text reads: Recreational vehicles and camping trailers shall not be used as temporary living quarters for more than ninety (90) days in any twelve (12) month period except if these are placed in an approved RV/Camper park or in the event of an emergency or disaster when a governmental grant/program provides a temporary recreational vehicle while the damaged/destroyed home is being replaced. Recreational vehicles must be ready, willing, and able to move off-site within 48 hours.
They define an RV as a vehicle which is: (a) built on a single chassis; (b) 400 square feet or less when measured at the largest horizontal projection; (c) designed to be self-propelled or permanently towable by a truck; and, (d) designed primarily not for use as a permanent dwelling, but as temporary living quarters for recreational, camping, travel, or seasonal use.
When I lived elsewhwere, I had a RV in a lot next to me. Every time they dumped the sewage tank in the field behind me I wished they were not there.
It would also seem that they are never homeless, they just move the RV to somewhere else, say, maybe a RV park that has a sewer hookup.
Mingo, we’re talking about here now in Henderson. You addressed nothing about HOMELESS, just some sewage when you lived elsewhere. Again, has anyone bothered you here?
What else can I say about this comment…
It would also seem that they are never homeless, they just move the RV to somewhere else, say, maybe a RV park that has a sewer hookup.
Personally I have sewage, water, HVAC,and electrical.
So really, what was the point of your comment? Just beat someone down?
I believe that 90 days is more than fair when talking about those living in a recreational vehicle. Love the concession the ordinance makes for those who are forced to bear the brunt of lost property due to natural disasters. Sounds fair to me. If someone chooses to live out their day to day life in an RV then so be it. But keep them on some land that is zoned in such a way that would allow all of those who do to stay within the confines of an RV park.
The point of the zoning issue is to keep structures of a similar nature grouped together. Houses with houses, industrial business with industrial business. For example, if one were to ride down one road in Henderson and see the following” “house, field, paper plant, RV, mobile home.” Mingo brings out a great point of the possible negative consequence of having someone living in an RV next to a house. They’re right in my opinion.
Zoning is absolutely necessary –take a look around. “Nice” upper middle class areas now have rvs –no matter how attractive, permanently parked in yards. Vance County should have to have a referendum on the issue.
We are losing our vote here in this area–and allowing the commissioners to run rough shod all over us.
Well the way Mr. Mojo Rison looks at things, maybe we should do that with things that he wants, that other don’t like. Maybe certain kinds cars on certain roads, or maybe certain clothes only worn in certain places, you can do that kind knit picking on just about anything. Maybe we’ll get people with big noses to live only at the lake. See my point? We are talking about where I have to live, the only place I have to live and can afford. Maybe you’ll be next, and no one will stand up for you. I understand why people keep moving away from Henderson and others will not move here. You have too many dumb rules on imposing your thinking and way of life onto other peoples lives, which is really none of your business. Maybe your house is not up to code? A thousands codes exist.
“You have too many dumb rules on imposing your thinking and way of life onto other peoples lives, which is really none of your business.”…..?
That’s a 2 way street, Cmore.
Oh, yes it is, ziggy. That’s my point. When the rights and freedoms are taken from another, you are, without doubt, taking them from your very self.
“rights and freedoms” doesn’t necessarily mean you can do whatever you want to do anywhere you want to do it, with disregard for others.
I don’t see anything wrong with Mojo’s suggestion in post #5 about RV parks.
