The Henderson-Vance Chapter of Safe Kids North Carolina will be making youths and adults aware of the ATV RiderCourse at Wal-Mart on North Cooper Drive in Henderson today from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The ATV RiderCourse is a half-day, hands-on ATV training course that meets the North Carolina ATV safety certification requirements.
Effective October 1, 2006, every all-terrain vehicle operator born on or before January 1, 1990, must possess a safety certificate indicating successful completion of an all-terrain safety course sponsored or approved by the All-Terrain Vehicle Safety Institute.
Between 1999 and 2004, 43 children under the age of 16 died in ATV-related accidents (Action for Children North Carolina – December 12, 2005: ATV Bill, Raleigh News & Observer).
