Library launches summer reading program


This will be the first program for youth in the new library.

Regular meeting times will be July 10 through August 9, 2006, with the Kickoff on July 1.

Pet lovers of all kinds are invited to join “Paws, Claws, Scales, and Tales” at the H. Leslie Perry Memorial Library. Summer Reading 2006 is open to young people, preschool through young adult, with programs, prize drawings, story hours, a reading club, and more. Families with preschoolers are invited to join the Read-to-Me portion of the program. Teens, you have your own program, “Creature Feature.”

May 8: Summer Reading Signup begins

July 1, 2 PM: Kickoff featuring NC Museum of Natural Sciences (place TBA)

July 10: Regular Weekly Meetings Begin

July 12, 2 PM: NC Museum of Natural Sciences presents Venomous Snakes

July 19, 2 PM: Enjoy terrific tales of animals and adventure with storyteller Ron Jones

July 29, 2 PM: Magical and medieval animals with the SCA

August 9, 2 PM: Final Party and Prizes for Paws, Claws, Scales, and Tales

August 10, 6:30 PM: Final Party and Prizes for Creature Featuer

Registration for the Summer Reading Program begins on May 8 and will continue throughout the program (except when we are closed for moving during the month of June).
