Tuesday’s open line

It was a slow city council meeting last night. The council decided to wait for public comment before enacting its graffiti ordinance. It also decided to extend the public hearing on the amortization ordinance another week because a resident complained he had not been notified of the hearing and impending vote.

Is it incumbent upon the city to notify affected residents of hearings and votes that may concern them above and beyond the newspaper notices that are required by law? Should another notification system be in place such as those that technology now affords us? Let your voice be heard on today’s open line.
