Crime Stoppers fund raiser at Chex
The Henderson-Vance Crime Stoppers will be holding a fund raiser beginning today through September 9 at Chex Truck World. During the event, Chex will donate five cents for every gallon of gasoline and diesel purchased, as well as five percent of restaurant sales.

From the HPD: Tips to snip copper thievery
Over the past month there have been several thefts in the Henderson area involving the taking and removing of copper wiring, piping and other metals (such as steel).
HPD apprehends three for armed robbery
On August 14, 2007, Claude Neal, an independent shoe salesman, was robbed while in the 200 block of Ransom Street.

**Updated** Vance County Sheriff Peter White and Jail Administrator Duane Townes reported to the Vance County Board of Commissions last night on a plan of corrective action developed to answer a failed inspection by the state.

The Human Resources Committee of the Vance County Board of Commissioners will meet at 5:15 p.m. in the office of County Manager Jerry Ayscue. The Vance County Board of Commissioners will meet this evening at 6:00 p.m. in their chambers in the County Administrative Building on Young Street.
