Etheridge’s New Year’s resolutions
This year begins with challenges of the sort we haven’t seen in a generation, and I have taken the time to commit myself to some goals, personal and professional, for 2009 that I would like to share with you.

Easley lifts reindeer ban for Christmas eve
Raleigh — Gov. Mike Easley has temporarily lifted the importation ban on reindeer coming into North Carolina and has asked the Federal Aviation Administration to keep the skies clear over the state on Christmas Eve.

State board of ed. highlights
At this month’s meeting of the North Carolina State Board of Education, members approved recommended interim cut scores and achievement level descriptors for the NCEXTEND1 alternate assessments in reading and mathematics, the final cut scores and achievement level descriptors for the NCCLAS reading and mathematics grade 3 pretest and final cut scores and achievement level descriptors for the North Carolina reading grade 3 pretest.
