Homicide

On January 9, 2009, at about 1:30 a.m. police responded to a call to 687 Adams Street in reference to a shooting.

When officers arrived they found Montrel Lamar Alston shot and laying inside the residence. A second subject, Robert Earl Smith, was also found outside of the residence. Robert Earl Smith had also been shot.

Breaking & Entering Case

On February 24, 2009, at around 8:55 p.m., the Vance County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a breaking and entering and larceny on 2100 Cokesbury Road.

Deputies arrived on the scene and talked to the resident who stated that someone had broken in between 9:30 a.m. to 8:50 p.m. and took an .22 calibre hand gun and assorted silver and gold jewelry.

The Vance County Sheriffs Office has no suspect at this time.
