HPD makes break-in arrest

At 5:41 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2009 police officers responded to an alarm activation at the ACTS house (Area Christians Together in Service) located at 305 S. Chestnut Street in Henderson.

Officer T. A. Flowers arrived on the scene moments later and encountered a man behind the building. The officer detained the man after observing that he was placing food items into his pockets and into a backpack.

A search of the building revealed that the glass had been broken out of the front door of the building. Officers located no other persons at or near the scene.

Flowers arrested Clarence Delanie Jones, 45, of 2056 Raleigh Road in Henderson and charged him with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and possession of stolen goods. Magistrate Debbie Bowens imposed a $25,000 bail as a condition of Jones’ release and ordered that Jones be confined to the Vance County Jail pending an August 25, 2009 court date in Vance County District Court.
