Breaking & Entering Case

On June 16, 2009 around 8:30 a.m. police responded to the ACTS House in reference to a breaking & entering of the institution.

When officers arrived, they talked to Copper Rain who found that someone had broken out a window in a downstairs bathroom and entered the business.

A desktop computer and a monitor were reported to be missing. The subject had ransacked the building and damaged a wooden door.

Homicide

On June 14, 2009, a shooting incident occurred at America’s Best Value Inn located at 200 Parham Road in Henderson.

Officers arrived on the scene to find David Hicks, 22, of Dick Faines Road in Henderson suffering from a gunshot wound. Hicks was transported to the Maria Parham Medical Center and then transferred to the Duke University Medical Center where he died a short time later.

Two other individuals were also shot during this incident. Their names are being withheld at this time pending further investigation.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Criminal Investigations Division. Detectives have received numerous leads and are actively searching for witnesses to the shooting. During the process of the investigation, detectives have determined that there are at least 50-60 witnesses who still need to be identified and contacted.

Detectives urge anyone who was present at America’s Best Value Inn on Saturday June 13, 2009 and Sunday June 14, 2009 between 8:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to contact the Henderson Police Department. All information will be kept confidential.
