Henderson Allstars homecoming

After an invocation by the Rev. Frank Sossamon of the South Henderson Pentacostal Holiness Church, Vance County Board of Commissioners Chair Danny Wright congratulated the team.

“You’ve done us proud,” Wright said.

Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce President Bill Edwards served as an impromptu master of ceremonies with a portable amplification system from the back of his truck.

“It’s all about you,” Edwards told the team. “This is a moment in life you’ll never forget.”

Coach Tony McGhee expressed his appreciation to the 500 to 1,000 people who traveled to the Babe Ruth World Series game in Virginia.
