This weeks presidential address focuses on a Bipartisan Approach to Strengthening the Economy:
A reminder that tonight in the City Council Chambers is a short regular meeting and work session to follow. You may read the agenda details at the previous link. In the meeting the new EDC Director Stuart Litvin will make a presentation. I’d like to point out that on Thursday, the Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce hosted a Business After Hours session, sponsored by Don Lorenzo’s Mexican Restaurant and State Farm. Mr. Litvin was there and personally introduced himself to all the attendees (including myself), which I would guess would amount to about 50 or so local business leaders. It was the first time I had ever met any of the EDC Director’s of Vance County. Let’s hope he can continue to work hard to put our county on a good map.
Also tonight, the County’s Planning and Environmental Committee is scheduled to meet Monday, July 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the County Manager’s Office. Topics include water, land use planning, and subdivision roads.
i see at tonight’s city meeting they want to make it if your garbage can is lost or stolen, you have to pay $75 automatically on next month’s bill to get a new one. i checked their website, and it currently says “A fee of $75.00 will be charged to occupants removing cart from residence.” I have a problem with someone knowing they can steal my can and i’ve got to pay 75 bucks to replace. besides, not everyone wants this big can in their yard, and lowes has big cans for like 10 bucks
Not crazy about this issue myself. I have to put it at the curb, but if some thief decides to take it, I’m responsible for the $75. Maybe I should be responsible for a new cart of my choice, ( $10 at Lowes sounds about right) since the thieves apparently only want the nicer ones with wheels.
I guess my question to Mr. Litvin would be: “Where are you living?” Hope it is here in this county–city. I was not impressed with his interview on WIZS–. He might have been correct, but to say that Economic Directors are at the whim of any new manager or council seemed a bit self-serving. Did anyone else get that impression? I mean, if one is getting results it would seem that they would stay with the same one.w
I hope he does well–but I do not at all agree about the grants being the answer to our problems–just more government intervention. Two million from the County funds is excessive.
He’s in a home in the downtown area, near Chestnut St.
MY concern is his work record. He doesn’t seem to hold a job very long
If I remember right, it was a requirement that he move here in order to accept the position
That is my concern, too Catfish. A year here and a year there doesn’t sound promising.
I would like for someone to ask Brenda why she hasn’t paid her taxes on all the properties in the Flint Hill area that were given to her by the rogers’ boys!! C’mon brenda, didn’t you ask the congregation for a little extra $$$ in your sermon last week? VOTE HER OUT and the rest of the idiots who don’t know what they are doing even after serving for 2 years..i.e. george daye and sara coffey who promised she would disclose who paid for alston’s clean-up! Remember that sara? You are what they said you were………….more sides than a rubic’s cube!! Hope you enjoyed your term b/c you will be voted out next time FOR SURE!!!
