Glenn D. Alston (standing), coordinator/instructor for the Basic Skills Lab at VGCC’s Warren County Campus, leads a class of adult students working toward improving their proficiency in literacy and other skills.

Warren County area residents are invited to learn more about Vance-Granville Community College’s basic skills/literacy classes at an Open House on Saturday, Aug. 6. The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on VGCC’s Warren County Campus, located at 210 West Ridgeway Street in Warrenton.

According to Glenn D. Alston, the coordinator/instructor for the basic skills lab at Warren Campus, the open house will offer opportunities for residents to find out about the available programs and what to expect as a student. Visitors can take a look at the classrooms and meet the instructors who help local adults to improve their proficiency of basic reading, writing and math skills and to complete their Adult High School Diploma or GED. These basic skills classes are offered free of charge.

Refreshments will be served.
