On Thursday November 10, 2011 around 1:30 PM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to Vance Charter School on Dabney Drive, Henderson in reference to a firearm being located on the campus. Officers had been contacted by school personnel who located the firearm. Upon further investigation, officers determine that a male juvenile student had brought the firearm from home to the school campus. During the investigation it was learned that the male juvenile had left the campus prior to law enforcement arrival. The male juvenile was located a short time later at an off-campus location. The juvenile was charged with possession of a firearm by a minor and possession of a firearm on school property. Custody of the juvenile was turned over to Juvenile Services.
