VGCC celebrates another Record-Setting Benefit Golf Tournament

Vance-Granville Community College’s 29th annual Endowment Fund Golf Tournament generated approximately $35,420 from entry fees and from sponsors to help fund scholarships for deserving students and support the mission of the college. That result set a new record as the highest-grossing golf tournament in VGCC history. A total of 132 players formed 33 teams to play in either the morning or the afternoon round on May 7, 2013 at Henderson Country Club.

“We greatly appreciate the support of all the golfers and business sponsors who made this our college’s most successful tournament ever,” said VGCC President Dr. Stelfanie Williams. “Not only did we surpass last year’s record-setting total, but we went over the $500,000 mark for the total raised by all VGCC golf tournaments since 1985. The generosity of our community partners over the years has helped numerous students achieve their educational goals.”

In the morning round, the team of Ronnie Goswick, Bobbie Jo May, Rusty Pace and Phillip Shope took home the first-place trophy. Second place in the morning round went to the team of Donald C.
